Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or a mix of beef and pork
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs or gluten-free breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped parsley
  • 1/4 cup grated onion
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • For the Alfredo Sauce:
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional Add-Ins:
  • 1/2 cup sautéed mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup fresh spinach
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes for a spicy kick

Instructions

  • Prepare the Meatballs:
  • In a large bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, Parmesan cheese, garlic, parsley, grated onion, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  • Scoop out 1-2 tbsp of the mixture and roll into uniform meatballs.
  • Cook the meatballs:
  • Baking: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place meatballs on a lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes.
  • Frying: Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides until fully cooked.
  • Make the Alfredo Sauce:
  • In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Stir in heavy cream and let it simmer for 3-5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  • Add grated Parmesan cheese and whisk until melted and smooth. Season with nutmeg, salt, and pepper to taste.
  • Combine Meatballs and Sauce:
  • Add cooked meatballs to the Alfredo sauce. Let them simmer in the sauce for 5-10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  • Serve:
  • Serve meatballs and Alfredo sauce over pasta (like fettuccine or penne) or alongside steamed vegetables. Garnish with parsley and extra Parmesan cheese.
