Ingredients

  • 1 lb 450g 80/20 ground beef
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 burger buns sesame seed or brioche
  • 4 slices of cheese cheddar or provolone
  • Fresh lettuce leaves
  • 1 –2 tomatoes sliced
  • 1 red onion thinly sliced
  • Pickle slices as desired
  • Olive oil or butter for cooking
  • Optional: Homemade tomato-based burger sauce or special burger sauce blend of mayonnaise, ketchup, and spices

Instructions

  • Prepare the Patties:
  • In a bowl, gently mix the ground beef with salt and pepper.
  • Divide into 4 equal portions and form into patties, pressing a small indentation in the center of each to prevent bulging during cooking.
  • Cook the Burgers:
  • Preheat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat or prepare your grill.
  • For stovetop cooking, add a drizzle of olive oil or butter.
  • Cook the patties for 3–5 minutes per side, checking with a meat thermometer:
  • Medium-rare: 130–135°F
  • Medium: 140–145°F
  • Well-done: 160°F or above
  • Melt the Cheese:
  • During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty and cover briefly to ensure even melting.
  • Toast the Buns:
  • Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in the skillet until golden and slightly crisp.
  • Assemble the Burger:
  • Place the cooked patty on the bottom bun, then layer with lettuce, tomato slices, red onions, and pickle slices.
  • Drizzle with your favorite sauce and cap with the top bun.
  • Serve:
  • Allow the burger to rest for a couple of minutes to retain its juices before serving. Enjoy your Perfect Classic Cheeseburger while hot!

Handle the meat gently to ensure the patties remain juicy.
